Process

Each Ring of the Realm piece is created entirely by hand in my home studio here on Dartmoor.

The entire process unfolds slowly over several days, like a story slowly revealing itself. I carve every ring from a single piece of silver clay — no joins, no solders. Long, thoughtful hours where my mind often drifts to the person who will wear it: what meaning it might come to hold in their life, the moments it will witness, and the quiet strength or spark of magic it could offer through their own unfolding story. Then the kiln’s magical fire breathes life into the piece, followed by hammer-hardening, shaping, finishing, and polishing until it feels truly complete.

Each piece is allowed to reveal its own character through the subtle imperfections and honest marks of its making. No two are ever the same; each carries its own small, heartfelt story — born from patience, heart, and a genuine love for the slow magic of making with meaning.

I’m both English and Canadian by heritage.

After spending the first ten years of my life in the heart of England, my family moved to southern Europe, where I lived for many years before eventually finding my way home to Dartmoor in Devon — a wild, mist-kissed, legend-drenched land and one of the most magical places on earth.

Alfred the Great has lived in my heart since childhood. I first discovered him in the yellowed pages of an old Encyclopædia Britannica, and his story settled deep within me. There was something profoundly moving about the warrior-dreamer who fought against overwhelming odds — not just to defend his people’s freedom, but to forge something better: a realm built on strength, decency, and a quiet, enduring hope.

I believe his spirit still lives on — within this island, across the oceans, throughout his realm.
